Wipe Out is a surf rock instrumental composed by Bob Berryhill, Pat Connolly, Jim Fuller and Ron Wilson. It is a twelve-bar blues first performed and recorded by The Surfaris, who became known worldwide with the release of the Surfer Joe and Wipe Out single in 1963, at the same time of the Hanky Panky song by The Raindrops. The single was first issued on the tiny DFS label 1112 in January 1963. It was reissued on the tiny Princess label 50 in February 1963, and finally picked up for. The Surfaris were a band of teenagers with less than enough pocket money to record their work. The group was actually composed of the following young artists: Jim Fuller lead guitar, Robert Berryhill rhythm guitar, Ron Wilson drums, Jim Pash saxophone and Pat Connolly bass. Smallin pressed 100 copies of the single, which are rare collector's items today and about 10 seconds longer than the commercially released version. Band Name The Surfaris. Album Name Wipeout. The first album I owned in the Sixties, and the second album was new territory for me Surf classics. I never exactly considered myself a Surfaris fan, but I have definitely moved into the fan category after listening to these two albums back-to-back Fender guitars, bass, drums, a sax, and some keyboard makes this instrumentally lively and infectious listening.
